In the process of creating this body of work I focused on those aspects of my family experience that had the deepest effect and developed a visual language to convey it to the viewer. I used old family photos as a starting point to represent the specifics of my experience and then merged or juxtaposed them with catholic iconography in an effort to raise the work to a mythical level that the viewer with no obvious personal connection to the material can relate to.
